Bang for the buck

I have been installing these chargers before Bosch bought out the company. We only had 1 failure and most of these live outside in the desert. We have about 30 of these installed and most are used everyday. We had 3 or 4 other brands and had to replace them. They are a basic unit, no bells and whistles, but are very reliable.

High quality, durable

Bosch Auto EL charger, used to charge the battery for my Kia Soul EV. I dedicated a specific 240v circuit for this, rather than to use an existing 240v circuit. Bosch recommends a dedicated 240v circuit, anyway. I can disconnect the charger from my master circuit board, in order to save a few steps to reach my car at night. Maybe frivolous, but this works for me! A better alternative would have been to install a disconnect at the plug, but I didn't plan ahead. The Bosch guys might be advised to make such a recommendation in their installation manual.

The device was easy to set up and install. Charge status is clear. Cable and connections are well built and will surely last. The charge time is fast and efficient.

Very good quality charger

PROS : This charger is build tough and the overall quality is very good. The cable is sturdy while remaining flexible even a low temps. This charger charges my PHEV in no time. Strongly recommended.
CONS 18 ft cable is a bit short for outdoor use, a 25 ft cord would be nice instead. The strain relief for the input line cable (240V AC IN) is not included. The wall bracket is also on the flimsy side and there is no means to lock it to prevent thief. The cable holder is designed for a pole mounting, since the backing is round.
