Not much to it but it works well. I like that it came with multiple size adapters for different sized bleeders.
Worked great bleeding my Harley brakes after I replaced the stop light switch.
I purchased this bleed kit to help with a complete brake job on an '05 Dodge Grand Caravan. This is a pretty simple device, without much to get excited about. It simply does what it claims- catches the brake fluid from the drain fitting.
It comes with three adapters for different sizes of brake fittings. My van required the medium sized adapter, for example. Just push the adapter onto the long tub and install the short tube on the inside of the cover. Now it's ready to go.
Slide a box-end wrench over the fitting, then slide the adapter over the brake fitting and it will hold itself in place. Crack the fitting open with the wrench and push the piston back (using your tool of choice), and watch the oil drain down the tube. Then close the fitting, remove, and drain the cup. Pretty easy.
I did not use this to do a complete brake fluid change; just to remove the oil from the backside of the piston as it was retracted. The cup is small, and I drained it after each wheel assembly so it would not overflow. You will also want to pay close attention to the level of fluid in the brake reservoir so that it is not depleted after actuating the new brakes and extending the piston. I ended up having to just top mine off at the conclusion of the job.
I will be using this again in a few weeks on a Toyota, and feel confident that it will work just fine there as well.
I'll keep this tool for future jobs, but for the price (and in comparison to what a shop would charge for a brake job) I won't feel to bad if I have to discard it later and purchase a new kit for future jobs.
All in all a great item for the occasional garage mechanic and well worth what I paid for it.
The cup is small for completely flushing the system & you need to fill, dump, fill, dump a few times. However, the included bleeder elbows fit nicely on the bleed screw nipples & are better than when I have used normal tubing & had to fight the tube to stretch to fit onto the bleeder in my home-made bleed bottle. This little unit with the vacuum pump I already have saved my wife from having to sit in the car & pump the pedal as in the past.
Works as described. I wish the cup was bigger So i didnt have to empty it out every other corner
