I own 3 of these guns. Have rebuilt each at least 3 times. They get used daily on combines, tractors and crawlers, & often in situations where a larger gun is needed- but won’t fit in the space. The air lines on the truck are drained each day and the tools are oiled (just in the whip lines), but otherwise they get no maintenance. They take a beating and continue to perform, where the composite guns (with supposedly higher torque specs) will deform and bypass internally. I have been an ag mechanic for 46 years.
I used to sell and repair air tools for a living and i'd say this is the best pro 1/2" air tool you can buy, bar none. It has more power per psi of air and a better hammer than any other 1/2" air tool available.
It has so much power you have to be sure to limit the air pressure a bit (I.R. rates it at 100psi. max) or it will crack its own hammer assembly if it comes upon an immovable object.
If you're a professional mechanic with a good air compressor, buy this!
My brother is a bus mechanic and had a twenty year old version of this tool that finally broke. He was extremely worried that the new version wouldn't be made as well. He uses this tool frequently and was pleasantly surprised that the new one was even better than the old one. I asked him if he would recommend this tool. He said without a doubt and would tell them to buy it on Amazon because they had the best price and the difference from Amazon and the tool truck and Sears was quite significant.
my first 244A lasted 36 years. This gun should last until I retire.
Works great! Ready out of package. No Air leaks & has great power for loosening stubborn bolts. Highly recommend.
