Just as good as any ingersoll I've ever owned, just a little slower. Been holding up to professional mechanic work for a few months now just fine.
I really love this thing. It does have a ratcheting mechanism so you can use it as a regular ratchet to break bolts then spool it up to remove them.
It is very very quiet though and sounds pleasant, unlike some that have a squealing type noise. It is built very very solidly, feels better than the $150+ air ratchets honestly. It does have a rubber thing around the end of it so you don't scratch up everything.
It is also pretty short as well, I will edit in exact lengths and the exact DB soon.
My only complaint is that it would be just a little bit faster. But with any air ratchet, you sacrifice speed for torque and vice versa.
(Note Amazon photo April 2014 is currently incorrect - this is Air Ratchet, not impact wrench)
I purchased this Air ratchet (non-impact version) due to good price compared to the impact version
and also due to ability to use non-impact sockets and to fit into small spaces (compared to full-size impact wrench)
I want to remove some self-locking nuts from exhaust system which will take many turns to get off.
The quality looks good and I like the rubber grip and boot, compared to other tools.
It has a rubber boot over the head which is hard to see in the photo. This is nice to prevent chipping paint or denting something if you drop it.
I have never used an air ratchet before so I was concerned about the torque bashing my hand into something nearby. However, the air flow control paddle has good control. Less air gives less torque and speed and it is well controlled.
This tool works just like a regular ratchet, in that I can turn it "by hand" to loosen nuts that
are too tight for it to do on its own, then also have it spin the nut off. This was a surprise to me (having used impact wrenches that, if they can't loosen a tight nut, you need to use another tool). Also, I can hand-tighten nuts by feel (instead of having the tool blast it on and possibly over-tighten)
It turns a bit slowly but in cramped spaces it's faster than I can do by hand.
Torque is pretty good when run at 90psi.
My small compressor ~3.2CFM seems to be able to keep up although now I want to put it outside
since the air ratchet is so quiet compared to the compressor!
Pros:
- VERY QUIET, no need for airplugs (except when my compressor comes on)
- good power and air control
- comfortable / rubber grip / boot
- rear exhaust, blows away (towards coupler)
- Made in Taiwan, not China.
Cons:
- RPM is a BIT slow. Maybe 300rpm would be good vs 150 but maybe that is the price
for having the rated torque.
Sunex seems like a pretty good brand, although I'm hoping I can get replacement parts
(if I ever use it enough to need them)
Seems like good value for the price paid.
I attached a few photos in the customer image gallery.
Worked good quite.
