The Makita B-43359 is a 3/4" hollow socket with a 6" shaft and a 1/4" hex shank. The shaft is bored smooth the full length, so 1/2" threaded rod and long bolts pass straight through instead of bottoming out. You run the nut down with the tool rather than spinning it by hand first. Three-quarter inch is the nut size that goes with a 1/2" rod, which is the heavier of the two common rod sizes. Twelve-point drive seats on both 6 and 12-point fasteners, and the shank is axial press-fit for torsional strength over a one-piece socket.
