It's a badasss hammer for sure.
Great hammer for iron working balanced great
First I do not know what they guy before is saying about wood handled hammers... makes no sense. Everybody who swings these things will tell you wood handles are great for giving you blisters and shattering randomly in the middle of a job. Fiberglass replaced wood years ago for serious construction work. The handle is really good at absorbing shock and not giving the user nasty blisters. You can get away with thinner or no work gloves rather than the heavy leather ones, which is great in the humid heat of summer because the handle absorbs shock. The design of the head while round, has a large striking surface, larger than a more squared-off head.
Sadly, my hammer annoyingly had the head become loose from the handle where it had about 3/32" of play to move around the handle. It had to be a manufacturing defect with how the handle was attached to the head at the factory as both were in perfect shape. Wilton stood behind their product and sent a replacement quickly after I put in a warranty claim, and they get a shout-out for that.
This really is a nice tool. Its well balanced, hits hard, and the vulcanized rubber handle is really good at absorbing shock and therefore really helps with blisters. I think it was worth what I paid for it.
Personally I think the 24" handle is the perfect length for most situations and the 6lb head hits hard, while still being nimble.
I received the hammer with only the head of the hammer in a box and the handle fully exposed.
Nice hammer. The handle, no doubt is unbreakable and it does absorb most of the shock when using it. There is only one bad thing about the hammer, it's made in Mexico not the USA. I thought the head seemed to be a little on the soft side at first but I've been using and abusing this hammer for months now and it's holding up quite well. I'd recomend this hammer to any diesel mechanic, it's a must have. It isn't too long or heavy to swing while lying on a creeper.
It's a badasss hammer for sure.
