This is a "Storm" Rotor/Ball Joint Driveline Dial Indicator. Storm is Central Tools Inc.'s "Value Line". Basically this means that it's exactly the same as Central's made-in-USA line, except that it's made in China, and available at 1/5 the cost. I cannot comment on the quality of Central vs. Storm, but I can tell you that I don't have any doubts about the quality of this product. It feels solid, and the dial indicator appears to read accurately. Replacement parts are available through Central's website, and I wouldn't be surprised if Central American-made replacement parts are compatible with the Chinese-made Storm tool.
Beware that this tool does not ship with instructions of any sort. However, the instructions for Central's Made-in-USA model will suffice (Central 6454). Unfortunately Amazon won't let me link to the PDF, but it's easy enough to find. Find Central Tools' website through your favorite search engine, navigate to Tools > Dial Indicators & Sets > Brake, Chassis & Driveline Tools > Instruction Sheet.
Another reviewer commented that he thought his tool was delivered used. I can't verify his claim since I haven't seen it, but mine was received in brand-new condition, covered with light machine oil, like most shop tools are. Perhaps he confused it for "used" because of its oily condition. Who knows, but this product is shipped and sold through Amazon, and not some shady third-party company. So if there is an error with the order, you know Amazon will take care of it.
Fairly simple to use. I wish more (or at least some) of the mechanics had these. I don't think the one I got was brand new, as I expected (and, honestly, I'm not even sure if it was supposed to be brand new), but it is in fine working condition.
