This product is fine and just the way I need it for the job. It will serve the purpose and I'll recommend it.
Overall a great idea. Not a bad build quality at all, jaws line up neatly, due to the length of arms etc not a great deal of pressure at the tip so do not expect this to grip and be able to turn with any great torque at the tip but because of the design gets into very tight spots and can latch onto things in tight places to retrieve things dropped in awkward places, unhook electrical clips you can't otherwise reach etc etc. Pretty handy.
If you are an amateur like I am, this is one of those tools you buy because you sorely wished you had it one some earlier project. I haven't needed mine yet, but fully expect I will.
So I have no "real world" experience to report. That said, these pliers appear to be very well constructed and the jaws open wide with relatively little movement of the handles.
If you do mechanical work or home projects, these are a nice tool to have on hand in case you need them and the price is fairly reasonable.
These sure beat the other extended reach needle nose pliers out there. They are perfect for clumsy folks like me, who can't assemble or disassemble a project without dropping something in a hard to reach place. Great for people who get the "coffee shakes" or are unlucky and have things fall, roll, drop, or otherwise sneak off into places where hands and fingers don't reach. Certainly they won't replace regular needle nose pliers, but they aren't intended to. When you need a pair, you'll know it and you'll know they are the right tool for the job. If you're like me when, there will be times when you would gladly pay twice the price to have a pair. I have 4 pairs in strategic locations!
Innovative design. I feel that it offers the best combination of gripping strength and openability that I have seen in a long-reach plier. The best part of the double X is that it allows the jaws to open wide while the shank stays relatively thin, which is key for areas you will be using this plier (restricted access).
I hate sloppy pliers. I feel that this plier has a low level of slop in the joints. Which is impressive considering that it has twice as many joints as a conventional plier.
Apex tool group makes these and sells them under both Gearwrench and Crescent brands. Pick you favorite color of handle.
