I have had other brands of pipe wrenches, but a Ridgid is the only one worth using. They are easier to adjusts and harder to break. And if you do break the handle on one, Ridgid will give you a new one. I also recommend getting the aluminum wrench when you need one this big. You'll save a lot of weight and sweat for a little bit of money. They also don't rust.
You would think that this wrench, because it is so light, would be a piece of junk, but its not. This wrench is awesome in every way! It is much lighter than normal wrenches, but with the same tough power as other wrenches. It is definitely worth the extra money spent.
Industry standard, made in the USA , by far the best wrenches made.. In the business over 35 years and never had any problems with their tools..
Have you ever picked up a regular/normal 48" pipe wrench? I have, and due to the weight of it, and the fact that I didn't expect it to be so heavy, I nearly dropped it on my toe! This wrench is so much lighter, and easier to use! I would definitely recommend this wrench over heavier options!
The lightweight aluminum construction of this wrench makes it much easier to use than its cast iron counterpart. This is especially true if you have to use the wrench reaching away from you, rather than right over the fittings.
If you need to heat your fittings before disassembly operations, use the torch before applying the wrench. I watched a guy carelessly melt the handle of his wrench while "torching" a pipe. He had the jaws of that wrench red hot! That's not covered on the warranty.
I've never needed more leverage than this long wrench provides, but if you do, they make one bigger. The differenc in price between this wrench and the iron one is less than one day off with a bad back. You won't be disappointed with Rigid!
