Pretty good kit. Case arrived in larger than needed box and was damaged. I didn't bother sending it back. There does seem to be a couple duplicates and the press could be larger but a good value overall.
Worked as advertised, made Ball Joint Replacement simple on 2006 Explorer. Product was promised delivery in 5 days Std shipping, but arrived at my house the NEXT day. There's enough accessories in the kit to replace several other style ball joints or even U-Joints.
After doing research on suspension tools, I opted to get the large set. Never know when you'll need a piece. NOTE: this tool is a "puller" and "pusher". In other words, it pulls the ball joint out and then pushes it in. I had to use this on the bottom side of the lower arm to replace the joint. In order to do so, be sure to have the vehicle jacked up high enough to fit the tool. Use a hydraulic jack on the lower arm to control drop.
Tool and pieces seem to be good quality. I didn't have any issues other than trying to use it to "press" the joint out (which I like better). The opening just isn't wide enough to put what you need together to make it work. I opted to cut the ball joint threaded piece with my cutoff wheel and then using the tool, added a deep impact socket of mine to make it work. When I did the other side, I just used the tool from the bottom and it worked just fine. I did put some never sieze on the threaded shaft just to make it easier to use.
The adapters are in a blow molded case (very nice) but not marked as in the instruction manual (very weak). I intend on making labels to put the number above each piece and laminate a copy of hte manual (available online) and keep with the tool.
Whether your an avid mechanic or just occasional garage junky that needs to do occasional suspension work, I don't think you'll go wrong.
Even though there were times I thought the C press was gonna break from all the clamping force it never did and got the job done. I had to use a piece of angle as apart of the assembly once but over all the set complete.
The packaging is way overkill and cheap, it could be packaged in half the space but ya, the press works and I'm glad I bought it.
Durable, no bending or thread shred. Everything I could ask for in a ball joint press. The case was gray, so I feel a little lied to, but no real complaints.
