The RPM is very controllable.

Its big and feels solid and well built. The RPM can be turned down and it will maintain a consistent low speed and not spin the polish/wax off. I wish I had purchased this a loooong time ago.

The lower speeds don’t really do anything. 1000 and up is the best for boats and cars.

A really nice tool with great speed control.

A must for folks with fiberglass to care for. I now have polished my 31 year old boat for four years in a row. It looks like a brand new boat. Only took 4 hours this spring to get the boat looking great for the season that included wet sanding the pilot hose with 2000 grit paper by hand the following with the polisher and a wool head using Maguire's ultimate compound and ragging by hand after.

Don't be intimidated, you can use this machine. It's not that hard. Use under 1800 rpms and you'll be fine. Learn to clean your wool pad while running it. This is safer to use with the speed limiter rpm setting and soft start. It is not like the 35 year old ones that would fly wide open if the trigger wasn't feathered. It's not heavy if you are somewhat fit, and if not just, take your time and pace yourself. Use Genuine 3m rubbing compound, then 3m Perfect It machine polish, then hand apply or use DA foam pad with Dupont Zonyl wax. Don't use cheap store bought products. If doing black or dark colors, you can also use Flynns Ebony which is a modern version of the old liquid Ebony.
