Good unit, poor Amazon delivery service.

Update #2: a few days later and the unit has been replaced by Clore, with a prepaid label to send the defective unit to their engineering department to determine the mode of failure. I'm very pleased with the customer service over Schumacher, so much so that I decided to start replacing my DSR products with Clore and Solar products. Very happy, support is one of my highest priorities during purchases as a technician. The new unit arrived better packaged I would like to add, with more cushioning and bubble wrap.

Update: a relay on the output is defective, and only works if the unit is tapped after being turned on. This thing came packaged very poorly and it is almost certainly damaged because of it combined with Amazon's careless drivers. I'm very disappointed in both the manufacturer and Amazon delivery.

Original review Aug 22-2020: So the first thing I noticed, is how poorly packaged this unit was, allowing it to get dented and have parts come loose from inside. The plastic in the photo (excuse the dirty hands) was loose inside the charger. It was held down by hot glue, to say I'm concerned is an understatement. I contacted clore automotive through email, so I'll update the review when we reach a conclusion.

Impressed by the quality from the double shipping box, the metal cabinet, and heavy cables. Easy to use for module programming as a power supply. As shown with the product photo, you need a standard U.S. 120V 20A outlet with the perpendicular notch (one prong is rotated 90 degrees in this plug). That is a U.S. standard that ensures a 20A outlet (not a foreign plug as one reviewer incorrectly states). Highly recommended.

Reliable voltage source for diagnostics and programming. The smart battery charging is a bonus.

There aren't any inexpensive options for a true stable voltage supply. However, this is still cheaper than a bricked ECU module due to low voltage during reprogramming. This is well up to the task.

You do need to have a 20amp outlet and likely a 20amp extension cord as well. I already had the outlet but did need the extension cord. The leads are heavy duty and very well made. They could have been a bit longer but they work fine.
